An Interview with Deven and Buzzine Magazine

Aaron Stipkovich: Your potential audience is going to wonder why you've waited until now to get out into the public eye, don't you think? You could have spring boarded your career at any point. Why now?

Deven Davis: i totally could have. But my whole life I have wanted to be a mother, (then) last year I had a really bad miscarriage. I Just felt like I was shitting myself and I was not going to have that child until I have dealt with that eight-year-old lit- tle girl who knew what she could do, just to do it, and then have a family and so on. Like on my birthday you know I had a really bad night.

AS: Yeah. How much do you want to say publicly?

DD: All of it, Anything. I'll tell it all. Just this last April, I got very, very addicted to nitrous. I turned to that while hating myself and hating everybody else. I thought it was everybody else's fault that I had that miscarriage. Then on my birthday i OD'd and I wound up in the hospital. I almost died. The next day I relapsed and did it again. The following day my mom came to my house, stayed with me for two days and didn't let me do it (nitrous). Then, after a few days, she gave me books to read about loving myself; my mom's awesome. I mean I feel like she sacrificed her childhood because she had me.

AS: So where are you now with the nitrous thing?

DD; 100% clean and sober, and Tm going to do my damnedest to keep it that way.

AS: What about the career now?

DD: I've always wanted to do a little modeling and acting but not anything huge. Then recently two angels came 'into my life: designers Joey and Tee. They were having a major ramp fashion show, a big huge thing. They asked me to model. Ozzy, Sharon, my Jon and my mom were there. The turnout was amazing, It was beautiful, and I was really scared. But once I hit it and I walked out, I was like, "This is fucking bullshit! I was scared about this?" It was fuck- ing amazing because they had girls like Paris Hilton, Jaime Pressly and Taryn Manning. They had all these upscale girls that they could have put their big finale shit on, and they put it on me. When they were help- ing me get dressed it was Doice & Gabbana fucking dressing me!

AS: How much of a rush was it, once all was said and done?

DD: It was a total'rush! I said, "Twant to work. OK, what's next?" And the next two days. Tee and Joey had me doing a party for something and the paparazzi were there and they were snapping photos of me and I was,."OK I like that,".,, the recognition, 'it felt good you know? They have done so much for me. Even though I had Jon's publicist who started me out with Playboy, I starting getting a little shit from people who were saying, "Oh, she's just getting that because of Jon."

AS: That's going to be a natural response from the nay sayers, you know?

DD: I don't want everyone to think that I am getting these jobs because of Jon. I got lucky but I'm not into the whole Hollywood talking shit thing either, i judge for myself, Like my girl Summer Altice. Summer is fucking awesome and makes me laugh. She hooked me up with some management people and things are developing really well now. I just want to do so much more and hit that spot and be satisfied spiritually and still be grounded, Then I can have my family.

AS: Do you think it took OD'ing to open your eyes up?

DD: It sure fucking did. I think it just took something like that because I was very hateful, a lot of people who have known me in the past would probably call. me a bitch, which I was, I am very sorry to all of you. Please print that. I was very hateful towards the world because I felt like everybody owed me something.

AS: Being scared changed you?

.DD: It totally turned me around and I was like, "Why don't I try loving somebody like I love myself?" I just wasn't letting me love myself. Then all this love came back to me and it was just amazing, It kind of scares me sometimes because I know Jon gets scared because he doesn't know where I am going or what I am doing. That makes him very protective just like I would be with him.

Like when you and he and I went to the MTV movie awards. There were a couple of times on the red carpet when I got scared and you know.. jealous and I was like, "Why doesn't anybody call out my name?" Then I just told myself, "Well let's look over here, we have Beyonce who's been working her ass . off 'since she was eight, Jon's been with Korn for ten. years, there's Queen Latifah and so on. Who the fuck am I yet?'!"

AS: Yeah, the Queen was hot.

DD: Fuck yes, she was. Queen Latifah! I grew up on that bitch and to see her shake Jon's hand... she approached Jon and she said, "I'm a fan." That was so cool. Then I looked up at her ahd said, "I'm a fan of yours," and she goes, "I'm a fan of yours too," and that just felt unbelievable, It was so cool, not that she said that, but that she acknowledged that! was talking to her. It was really cool. I learned a lot that day. •
